It involves a new website which presents the Institutions of both private and public law which serve individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
In a friendly way to the user, the visitor of the website, will be able to find “pinned” on the interactive map all the institutions, categorized on a geographical basis. The map of autismap.gr is already filled with dozens of red pins in different parts of Greece, which represent the first institutions which took part in the program.
The www.autismap.gr is the outcome of the research Program “Available Means for people with ASD in Greece”, which was conducted by the Department of Scientific Documentation and Education of “Child and Adolescent’s Center”, a Non Profit Civil Organization.
In order to materialize www.autismap.gr more than 3,500 institutions which provide therapeutic mental services have been searched and mapped online in Greece and via telephone communication with each institution it has been concluded that almost half of them (1603) serve or will be able to serve people in the autism spectrum.
Dr. Nikoletta Mavroidi, the Epidemiologist who is in charge of the Scientific Program, stated: “The vision to create autismap.gr stemmed from the need to improve the access of people with ASD to all the suitable institutions and services which correspond with the different and continually changing needs of their life.”
The presentation of the institutions as well as the online posting of contact information are free of charge and users have free access to the website.
